Learning Happens Everywhere

Learning happens everywhere. It’s happening in your home, in your work and relationships, and of course in the programs and services supported by the eLearning Foundation. Weaving learning into the wonderful fabric of our lives is what the eLearning Foundation is all about.

Our Focus

At the eLearning Foundation, we focus on three important areas: extracurricular activities including enrichment and athletics, tuition scholarships to our eLearning Centers or other education programs for children with special needs or financial hardship, and outreach to children with challenges in learning relating to dyslexia and other similar conditions.

We have a firm belief that all children are capable of learning when the method of learning is appropriate and matched to the unique needs and gifts of the child. We have seen amazing successes in children with disabilities such as dyslexia, autism, ADD, ADHD, or other challenges when they are provided with the methods of learning that work with the way their minds process information. We are committed to providing scholarships to an eLearning center for these wonderful and capable children.

Extracurricular Activities

As you may already know, the success of the eLearning Academy method is based on self-paced, guided independent learning. But children need more. They need time to gather with friends, to share stories and to show their work among peers. To support this important component of development, the eLearning Foundation sponsors a wide variety of extracurricular activities including:

Field trips to museums, theatrical productions, parks and more
Science and social studies fairs with winners advancing to regional and state competitions
Fine arts and music programs
Other programs as deemed beneficial to the growing community of home schooled students and the general public

Athletics

Organized athletics are an important part of the growth and development of the young mind and body. Lessons learned include an understanding that success comes through effort and that accomplishment is often done through others. The eLearning Foundation sponsors the formation of competitive teams with participation in home school leagues within the region. Current sports include boys baseball, swim team, and cross-country, with other sports planned for the near future.

Scholarships

eLearning was founded on the principle that learning is accomplished by a focus on the unique needs of each and every child. Through the years, it has been our distinct privilege to provide learning to children whose needs are related to an illness that makes it difficult for them to participate in a typical classroom setting. The eLearning Foundation is committed to supporting these wonderful and special needs children through tuition scholarships to eLearning and/or private or parochial schools. We also consider scholarship applications from families who experience financial hardships not related to illness.

How to Apply

Families in need of tuition scholarships should print and complete the scholarship application. Send the completed form and any accompanying documents (if any) to Scholarship Committee, 806 North Acadia, Thibodaux, LA 70301. The scholarship committee will review all applications anonymously and notify applicant families of the status of the application. The deadline to apply for scholarships for the fall and spring sessions is July 15.
